Oh.My.God. I love New York City. I have had the most fabulous week in Manhattan with Mum & Sarah. We have shopped until we dropped, we have visited every landmark we could think of, and – sadly – we have left the Big Apple, and returned to the rain of the Big Smoke.
We’ve been to the Chrysler Building, Grand Central Station (and yes, it was grand, and it was central. *madagascar reference*), the Empire State Building was AWESOME, Tim Burton’s exhibition at MOMA was really, really good. Loads and loads of movie stuff, and doodles from when he was at school. His style has stayed so constant, it was amazing. We went to Strawberry Fields in Central Park (incidentally, Sarah and I are now planning to take a trip to Bhaktivedanta Manor to see the Hare Krishnas). What else? Ummmm… The Rockefeller Center, the American Museum of Natural History (The Night at the Museum Museum!), Times Square, The Statue of Liberty, the New York Public Library (where Carrie and Big were supposed to get married)…. LOADS of places!! (And super-linkage for you!!)
We ate at Planet Hollywood, which I’m not linking because it was really not great. Definitely somewhere to visit to say you’ve been, but not to have a great meal. If you’re in New York, and you want to eat somewhere really fantastic, Serendipity 3, on East 60th Street (it’s literally seconds away from the Lexington Avenue subway), it utterly, amazingly gorgeous. We went at lunchtime, and got a table, but I’d say book just in case, and one sundae is MORE THAN enough for three people (we didn’t finish it!). Really really really great.
And SHOPPING!! I have fallen in love with American Eagle Outfitters, and they ship internationally!!! *Prays for shipping to the UK* Forever 21 was great too, but sadly no UK postage 😦 I bought some gorgeous MAC makeup as well, and some goodies from Sephora (again, no UK shops anymore, but there are other countries that might ship?)
Now, who wants to take me back??
*photos will be coming when I’m awake enough to upload them to Flickr 🙂 *
